Challenge

Hiring stalls on both sides of the same document. Job seekers send out resumes they cannot tell are wrong for the role, and recruiters read hundreds of them with no consistent way to compare candidates or explain a decision. The task was to build an AI hiring tool that gives both sides structured, actionable insight: a resume the candidate can fix before applying, and an evaluation the recruiter can act on and respond to within the day. The harder part was calibration. The AI had to sharpen the decision, not make it, so recruiters stay in control instead of being led by automation.

  1. 1.

Inconsistent resume quality. Job seekers struggle to tailor their resumes to a role, which leads to mismatched applications and lower chances of success.

  2. 2.

Inefficient candidate evaluation. Recruiters have no fast way to assess resumes and return actionable feedback, so the whole hiring process drags.

  3. 3.

Balancing AI and human input. Insights have to stay actionable rather than overwhelming, so users make informed decisions without feeling overpowered by automation.

Solution

I designed the product around the CV itself. A recruiter uploads a candidate’s file, tags the target positions and level, and the AI rewrites it to the market standard with every change highlighted and explained. The decision I argued for most was keeping the recruiter in charge: each suggestion can be accepted, edited or rejected, and the Documents hub holds the whole pipeline, its statuses and notes, in one place.

CV Generator

The core flow is four steps: upload the CV, select the key positions, optimize it to the market and export. It accepts PDF, DOC and XLS files, links and cloud imports, and each step unlocks only when the previous one is complete, so a recruiter can leave the flow and pick it up later without losing progress.

Market Recommendations

Each generated CV comes with a scored list of recommendations and the top skills for the target position in the current year. Changes are highlighted in place; the recruiter applies them all at once, accepts them one by one, or edits the text directly.

Export & Sharing

The finished CV is exported as a PDF in the firm's template, ready to download or share with hiring managers. Restarting the flow keeps the selected positions, so a second version for another role takes minutes rather than a morning.

Documents Hub

Every CV lives in one list with its owner, date, status and notes, filtered by created, shared and archived. Recent files, favourites and the team wiki sit beside it, so onboarding and process guides are always one click away.

Results

After the rollout, recruiters got structured, actionable insight on every CV, and a place to keep that knowledge and their team practices inside the tool rather than in private notes. The AI works as a partner; the final call stays with the person. Two quarters after the production release, the tool became the standard for CV preparation across every area of the company’s recruiting.

  1. 1.

CV preparation time cut by 41%

A CV ready for the market now takes under twenty minutes instead of the better part of a morning, across the whole talent team.

  2. 2.

    87% of suggestions accepted

On average recruiters override one suggestion in eight and edit it by hand, which is the balance of AI and human judgement the product was designed for.

  3. 3.

    Adopted across four practice areas

The pilot started with accounting roles; the position library and CV standards now cover audit, tax, advisory and consulting hiring.
